Week 7 GOTW
Game of the Week
An exciting Game of the week 7 match up out west:
#18 Arizona State VS #9 Oregon @ Eugene,OR.
Some good PAC12 action this week with a ranked ASU squad coming to Auzten Stadium to take on the Oregon Ducks & their awesome jerseys.
Both teams come into this game in very similar positions. BOTH teams loss came against teams on the road, BOTH teams that beat them are still undefeated! BOTH teams are still perfect in conference play so taking this into consideration, it should be an entertaining game!
Here is why I’m picking the Oregon Ducks. Oregon is coming of a terrific 2010 & since the week 1 brain fart against a very strong LSU they have been back on track. The great thing for the ducks is that the offense is playing just like last season, which is very bad news for the ASU D. Oregon is currently averaging 50 points a game!! Do the maths on that, 7 TD’s a game….. That is straight out PS3 offense, El Jugador offense! Also as a team they are rushing for 312 yards a game.
RB and Heisman hopeful LaMichael James is on his way to another HUGE season with 852 yards on the ground already.
While QB Darron Thomas is passing for a respectable 227 through the air, this balance is keeping opposing defences on their toes.
While the ducks D isn’t as strong as a LSU defence, it’s still playing good enough only giving up an average of 22.6 ppg. So if you score 50 a game and only give up say 23, you’re in good shape.
So how in the world can the Sun Devils stop this stellar offense? Stop LaMichael James!
Here is where ASU is in luck, James dislocated his arm late in Oregon’s blow out win last week. Now here is why the Sun Devils may be out of luck; James has said he had the same injury in High School and he played the week after. Now going by various reports Oregon is expecting James to play. Now is he going to rush for 200 plus for a 4th week in a row??? Oregon sure hopes so. Now if he doesn’t play ASU will have a much better chance to win but Oregon still has plenty of talent to plug in at RB with the likes of Kenjon Barner & De’Anthony Thomas.
The other ace up the sleeve of ASU is their stud QB Brock Osweiler who has guided his ASU squad to a great start this season. He “burst” onto the scene with a good game against a ranked Mizzou team in week 2 when he got them a big win in OT 37 -30.
If Osweiler can play the role of Superman, Batman & the Incredible Hulk combined it will be a great start.
As stated if their D can keep James & the rest of the RB corps in check ASU will surprise alot of people & give Oregon a fair crack.
ASU also has a stout scoring D that is letting up only 19.5 ppg, which is good for 22nd best in the country! Vontaze Burfict is the leader of the D and is high on all the NFL scouts for top linebacker prospects, if he can lead them. Oregon will have to be on the top of their game from the get go.
So final prediction is Oregon 30 ASU 21.
Oregon is good enough to win without LaMichael James, but it will make the game very interesting if he isn’t good to go!

USC @California
It is always a huge game when two California teams square off in a Pac 12 rivalry.
USC and their jaw dropping, heart stopping, mesmerizing, fantasizing offence will get the biscuits and here is why.
The Barkley( 1,597 yards) / Woods (55 receptions) USC tandem is alive and kicking well and have already linked up in many games to produce magnificent stats the only loss coming against Arizona State so far.
Do count count out my main running backTylerfrom USC either. This ‘Bad Boy’ from USC has got attitude, wears his pants low and likes the finer things in life and guess what Kiffin? He wants the ball more so USC running more in this game is quite possible especially late if they are already up a score.
California showed great heart last week in the first half againstOregonbut then proved that their defence is good but not great and they can only hold a powerful offence like Oregon for so long.
The problem isCallove their home ground but now they have moved their home games toSan Franciscodue to renovations so there is another USC advantage.
USC are a young team but have proven that their offence can match it with the best, they are also coming off a bye and although it did not helpIowalast week, lets hope it does for USC.
The other concern for Cal is the QB Maynard, the guy is not that great and their have been thoughts this week to bench him. Slow downCalbecause if this happens expect the USC defensive backs licking their lips especially Free Safety TJ McDonald.
As much as the boys loveSan FranciscoI see this being a dark day for theCalifornia‘Silver’ Bears because Gold is first and they will come second this week.
