Week 5 GOTW

For week 5 I’m going with:

Wisconsin #8 over Nebraska #7 @ Madison,WI

The badgers have been playing great football so far, with this is by far their biggest test to date. Taylor “Corona” Martinez leads an also un-defeated cornhuskers into Madison for the first meeting as big 10 foes.

As I’ve mentioned before the badgers have made a great start to 2011, Russell Wilson has played like the stud that he is while RB combo Montee Ball & Jams White have 300 yards plus over the first 4 games. Then add in playmaker Nick Toon at WR, Wisconsin just keeps rolling along.

Now here is where Nebraska may rain on the Wisconsin parade. Mr Corona aka Taylor Martinez, who is a slick cat and cool under pressure, except when his coach is giving him the business & a mouth full of spit.

Nebraska also has a mans defence. Led by stud DT Jarred Crick who has replaced Ndamukong Suh as the next great ‘huskers d lineman.

Can Martinez pull a carona out of the hat? El Jugador does not think so.

Overall Nebraska is a quiet 4 and 0, but still a dangerous team. Where they fall short is there offense as a whole. Martinez can run, run, run & run, also pass a bit but there is only so much that young man can do.

With no recent history, they last played each other in 1974, there is no real stats to pick against either side.

That said I believe Wisconsin have the edge with a stronger offense and the home field. Camp Randall stadium should be sold out and rocking red & white, let’s not forgot when those clowns all jump around in the fourth quarter and make the stadium shake.

Unless that plucky customer Martinez puts on a one man show, I see the game being a close affair with the final score:

- El Jugador

Alabama @ Florida

Alabama 17 Florida 13

The excitement of a top SEC game is upon us, because let’s face it the game El Jugador did last week you always knew Bama was going to kill Arkansas.

The Alabama Crimson Tide go into the swamp to face those Florida Gators and those Gators are pissed off!

First let’s take you back to the day Tim Tebow landed in Florida, I believe it was the day God shined his sun the brightest on the ‘Swamp’ blessing them with a couple of National Championships. It was also the day if you didn’t have a faviourte college football team you started to like Florida.

But boy Bama at Florida this is exciting and I think it has the potential to ruin El Jugador’s National Champion prediction.

Now I did say potential because I still believe Bama will eventually grind this win out but not without a dramatic fight over four quaters.

On one hand look at Florida’s backs Demps and Rainey both oozing with talent and are considered more dangerous than Dr College Football with a bottle Absinthe.

The only problem is Florida have played no one proven with Tennessee at home being their hardest opponent and let’s face it Vols you suck.

That’s why even though my heart is saying Florida my head is saying that sucky colour crimson tide.

Bama who is 3rd in rush defence will put probably 10 of their boys in the box and force Brantley to throw, and even though the Florida QB has improved, it is not enough to match an NFL defence.

The final question is can Richards run all day to keep the chains moving for Alabama? You would think so and it is probably the reason to think Bama can get it done in the swamp.

Both teams will be great this season and have even been called mirror images with both being hard on the run and tough on defence (espn,2011).

I see Bama getting away with the W but it will be a low scoring, grinding and physically battering game on the body. This will be old school college football.
