Week 5 upset

Hawaii over Louisiana Tech @ Ruston, LA

The Warriors have a great chance to open up their WAC campaign with a BIG win against LA Tech has 1 win.

Yes I know it’s only 4 weeks in but it was a 6 point OT win over Central Arkansas. I will also point out that Central Arkansas is a FCS school (Division below LA Tech). So with that in mind I’d say LA Tech doesn’t have a whole lot going for them apart from home field.

Now here is one reason why I love the Warriors in this matchup: Bryant Moniz. That’s right, Mr Moniz put up an NCAA record 7 first half touchdown passes.

Now it did come against FCS school UC-Davis but lots of powerful teams play FCS opponents in the early parts of their schedules, but 7 TD’s in one half is pretty impressive & once again I would say Mr Moniz had a “El Jugador” performance last week.

Hawaii is a team that is 2-2 with a close loss at Washington & what was a complete head scratcher; a loss at UNLV 40 – 20.

So now that they are getting to conference play and I see Hawaii lighting up the score board against LA Tech. With Hawaii’s high powered offense averaging 35.5 points I don’t see Tech slowing them down what so ever, especially seeing that Tech gave up 42 at home to a FCS squad, so how can they possibly stop Hawaii???

Did I forget to mention Tech is giving up 30.5 points a game! I tell you what, if we dress up my dog Hydie in a LA Tech uniform, she could possibly upgrade that defence. She’s fast & attacks any form of ball.

So in summary I see Hawaii having a solid win. That plucky customer Bryant Moniz can win the game with his legs or arm.

4 weeks have past so the new cast of wide outs should be familiar and comfortable with the offence and continue to improve.

Hawaii’s defence still needs to improve

 Air Force @ Navy

Welcome to Rushville population Air Force and Navy, as we see two of the top five teams in rushing in the FBS play off in Memorial stadium.

I realise Navy only lost to South Carolina by a field goal in what could be called an honourable loss, but did anybody see SC play at QB.  Garcia played horrible and was struggling to get the ball out in a decent time.

I just think Air Force will have the edge over Navy this weekend because of their great running game and that solid triple option (yes I realise Navy plays the triple option as well).

Basically the game will come down to who ever can stop the rush can win the game and I see Air Force stopping the rush.

I see Air Force just proving something a little more to their military rivals by the Falcons having a easier than expected win over Navy.

This also gives me a chance to shout out to the troops, thanks for providing a service to you country and doing something which truly is STRONG.

Both El Jugador and Dr College Football applaud you.
